Kim Chiu: A Star's Journey Through Film, Television, and Music

professionally known as Kim Chiu, is a renowned Filipino actress and recording artist, born on April 19, 1990. Her breakthrough came when she emerged victorious in the first teen edition of Pinoy Big Brother, catapulting her to fame. With a versatile talent showcased in various genres in both film and television, Chiu has become one of the highest-grossing box office stars, with her films collectively earning over ₱1.1 billion.

Forbes Asia recognized her as one of Asia Pacific's most influential Filipino personalities in 2020. Acknowledged as the "Multimedia Idol" by several media outlets, Chiu initially played supporting roles in television shows before achieving widespread recognition. Her pivotal career moment came with her pairing with Gerald Anderson, leading to notable projects such as Sana Maulit Muli (2007), I've Fallen For You (2007), and Tayong Dalawa (2009).

Chiu's success continued with commercial hits like The Healing (2012), Bride for Rent (2014), Etiquette for Mistresses (2015), and One Great Love (2018) in films. On television, she excelled in Minsan Lang Kita Iibigin (2011), My Binondo Girl (2011), Ina, Kapatid, Anak (2012), Ikaw Lamang (2014), and Love Thy Woman. As a recording artist, all of Chiu's studio albums have achieved Gold or higher certification from the Philippine Association of the Record Industry. She even staged a solo concert at the New Frontier Theater.

Disney Southeast Asia chose Chiu to model as Mulan in a special 2015 calendar shoot. Her contributions to Philippine entertainment have been acknowledged by various award-giving bodies, including FAMAS Awards, Box Office Entertainment Awards, PMPC Star Awards for Television, and Myx Music Awards. In 2010, she was inducted into the Eastwood City Walk of Fame. Currently, Chiu serves as one of the main hosts of the noontime variety show It's Showtime and has been a regular performer on the musical-variety show ASAP since 2006.
