Bea Alonzo: A Cinematic Journey from Drama to Diversity


 Phylbert Angelli Ranollo Fagestrom, born on October 17, 1987, is professionally known as Bea Alonzo, a highly acclaimed Filipino actress. Recognized for her prowess in portraying dramatic roles in romantic dramas, she has left an indelible mark in the Philippine film industry. Among her notable films are "The Mistress" (2012), "A Second Chance" (2015), and "The Love Affair" (2015), contributing to a worldwide gross of ₱2.4 billion and securing her position as the third highest-grossing box office star of all time.

Early Life

Born in Rizal to Philip Fagestrom and Mary Anne Ranollo, Alonzo's multicultural background includes a British father.


Growing up with her parents separated, she has a younger brother on her mother's side. Completing her elementary education in 2001 at the Jose Abad Santos Memorial School in Quezon City, she pursued studies at The Fisher Valley College in Taguig, Ususan Elementary School in Ususan, and Colegio de Santa Ana in Taguig.


Career


In June 2008, Alonzo marked her musical debut with the album "The Real Me" under Star Records. Around the same time, it was announced that she would take on the leading role of Betty Pengson in the Filipino adaptation of the TV sitcom "Yo Soy Betty La Fea," titled "I Love Betty La Fea," which premiered in September 2008 and ran for eight consecutive months.

Renewing her contract with ABS-CBN in December 2011, Alonzo embarked on projects such as the acclaimed drama "Sana Bukas pa ang Kahapon" (Tomorrow Belongs To Me) in 2014, alongside Paulo Avelino and Albert Martinez. In 2019, she showcased her versatility in the horror film "Eerie" and the dramatic film "Unbreakable." Venturing into writing for film, she enrolled in a workshop by renowned screenwriter Ricky Lee.

Recognized as one of Asia's biggest stars poised for international stardom by Variety.com and the International Film Festival & Awards Macao in 2019, Alonzo made headlines on July 1, 2021, when GMA News announced her transfer to GMA Network. This marked a significant move after almost 19 years with ABS-CBN, as she signed an exclusive contract with GMA Network.
